Ex-Katy unit, re-engined by EMD from an AS-616, IIRC, GP carbody adapted to the Baldwin frame.

That's not ex Katy, theirs were all 4 axle. This type of re-eninging was pretty common. Katy, Frisco, and CNW all had EMD replace Alco and Baldwin engines with 567's. Since the 567 was taller than the original motors they used the talled EMD (GP9-ish) hood.
