Dave Paone General Actually, it's a loaded taconite train headed to Bessemer, AL. Once unloaded some return North empty while others are loaded with coal for the return trip. U- are the loaded. E- are the empties. Northbound loaded coal usualy rate at least one DP unit on rear. 4/11/2013 9:01:01 AM
William H. Davis Jr. General I just confirmed my facts are correct, there are no taconite mines in Eola, Illinois, there is a power plant there, also the taconite goes to Flint Ridge for U.S Steel none goes to Bessemer that I'm aware, it all goes to Flint Ridge for U.S Steel, I also know the train was empty by looking down into the hoppers & also the springs were not compressed on the hoppers giving it away as an empty 4/11/2013 10:06:53 AM
William H. Davis Jr. General The only taconite trains BNSF runs to Birmingham are the U-SEMBIR/BIRSEM & U-KEEBIR/BIRKEE, the U-EOLBIR has always ran as a coal train, empty south & loaded north, they use the U designation both directions for that train 4/11/2013 10:25:55 AM
