GP30B  Contributor's Pick!       
The UP decided it did not need all those cabs, and ordered a variety of "B" units from EMD, including, besides the usual E and F units, GP9s, GP30s, SD24s and DD35s. By the 1980s most of these were off the roster, though some GP30Bs hung on in storage at Yermo. Here are a couple, awaiting a call that would not come.

Chris Balducci General Why would the Union Pacific store its locomotives on another railroad's property? Remember, the Southern Pacific ran through Stuttgart, Arkansas at the time. SP and UP wouldn't merge until 1995. 8/9/2013 5:33:39 PM
