Newark bound  Contributor's Pick!
A going away shot of a Newark bound train from Phillipsburg-the mid day P-burg train usually got ex Santa Fe or Rock Island long haul cars-on the ex CNJ. The power would run around the trains at the end of the run, making for a challenging view for the engineers. CNJ did have cab cars on some trains, adapted from their 1925 coaches. They typically ran on the east end of the train, though there were not enough to cover all the trains.
