Due to trackwork on September 8th, 2012 (new switches being installed at CP Stadium in Anaheim), Amtrak's "Pacific Surfliners" detoured on the Olive Subdivision between Orange and Atwood (Placentia), at which point they reversed direction and headed to Fullerton. Not exactly rare mileage (thanks to Metrolink), catching "Surfliners" on these lines is somewhat rare. Train 566 is seen crossing the Santa Ana River on the Olive Sub (and also crossing from Anaheim to Orange) on its way to Oceanside, with Dash 8-32BWH 505 and F59PHI 450 powering the train. (There was also trackwork going on south of Oceanside, so these trains were only operating between L.A. and Oceanside, rather than going all the way to San Diego.) |
