I overheard the crew radio for a move out of the Newton yard to head north. I had about 15 minutes to get in position and take this shot. But a funny thing happened as they approached my location. They stopped in the shade of some trees. It seemed too early to quit, so I stood in my spot waiting for their move. After about 20 minutes, they uncoupled from the train and moved the motors into the sunlight where I took this photo, but my standing there apparently had made the crew nervous. One gentleman walked over and asked what I was doing, "Are you from the FRA? In this day you never know." I told him, "This is my hobby!" "Oh, you're a phoamer!" He seemed relieved and then told me their plans which was to quit and move some cars in Hesston tomorrow. I wish I had gotten his name. |
