| UPs classy DD40X #6936 is seen here crossing over Chippewa Ave. in South St. Louis City on the Oak Hill Branch of the DeSoto Subdivision with an inspection train in tow. This is an interesting move considering for years, Missouri Pacific, the lines former owner, had restrictions on "D-D" series units on this portion of the railroad. Note the hulking industrial building in the background -- this is the former Brown Shoe factory which was shuttered decades ago. |
