N&W GP40 1372 at Roosevelt Road in Chicago, Illinois on an unknown day in July 1978, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. The white shed in the background was built during World Waj II to transport Boeing B-29 fuselage components from the Fort Crook manufaturing plant in Omaha, NE to final assembly at various locations around the country. A total oh 69 of these steel boxes were constructed and secured to flat cass, used to transport 536 Superfortress fuselages, included that of the Enola Gay. |
