WINGATE BROOK was a Plan 9508 5-double-bedroom/buffet/lounge observation car built by Budd in July 1949 for the New York Central, one of three such cars in Lot. No. 9636 built for service on the SOUTHWESTERN LIMITED. This car was originally NYC 10632 and then NYC 10632 in 1958. It was photographed leaving New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal on the westbound SUNSET LIMITED, substituting for one of the former CALIFORNIA ZEPHYR dome-observation cars which were usually assigned to the train between October 1976 and February 1977. |
