My drive west from Milwaukee had two purposes on this day. Jointly with chasing this train, I was attempting to chase storms as a regional tornado outbreak was forecast to occur that afternoon. I was heading to the Portage area to intercept storms moving in that had produced tornadoes in far northeastern Iowa and western Wisconsin. They began to weaken as they got near me. Meanwhile, an infamous EF5 tornado would kill over 150 people at Joplin, MO. |
