Everett/Kingsland Sub Action
This is just north of Kingsland, Georgia on the former Everett (Now Kingsland) Sub. The Train is the "Rocket" and has worked the former SAL line north from Jacksonville. It has completed its work here at Kingsland and is ready to roll north to Bladen where it will then turn west onto the Brunswick Sub for Waycross. The former SAL was severed and abandoned north of Thalmann to Riceboro in 1985. This Trackage will also be abandoned in less than 2 years. The Train still runs today via the nearby A Line.

Atlanta Rails General CSX made some intensly stupid decisions when it came to the S line in Georgia. If they had wanted to cut track miles they should have kept the gross cutoff so the rocket wouldnt have to go to Jacksonville and then go back north. Abandoning Kingsland to bladen was another stupid move, keeping it wouldve given them a direct link between Jax and Brunswick. Then of course why was the S-Line severed in the first place.... 4/11/2011 7:17:43 PM
Charles Burgess General As you probably know I am partial to Seaboard System...I love this photo! 6/9/2011 8:48:07 PM
Jim Bruce General Nice Shot!!! However it's not all bad. I recently found out through this site that CSXT has plans to reactivate their old line from Yulee to Calahan, and acording to my trucker Uncle a possible reason for this is that Werner Trucking (who he used to work for), wants to build a distibution center in the North FL area. 8/16/2011 3:27:17 PM
