Chicago Aurora & Elgin Railroad coach 300 at Wheaton, Illinois, unknown date and photographer, scanned from a 2¾X4½ print, Chuck Zeiler collection. The date is a guess, but after May 1942, when the arched windows were blocked off. This car was built by the Niles Car and Manufacturing Company in 1906, one of nine coaches (#'s 300-308) delivered that year. It rode on Baldwin trucks equipped with four GE66B traction motors, and had seats for 52 passengers. Note on the left the incline to the Elgin line. |
