Chicago & North Western Railway F7 412 near Canal Street in Chicago, Illinois on May 25, 1982, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Number 412 is outbound on a Scoot (C&NW parlance for commuter train). The train below has just cut off the Circus World Museum's historic circus train which it brought to Chicago from Baraboo, Wisconsin. The vintage circus wagons will be unloaded and paraded down Michigan Avenue, I got pictures of that too. This is a good example of Stagecoach Yellow seen above, and what became known as Zito Yellow (actually, Pantone 102C), so named for the Vice President-Operations at the time, Jim Zito. Under his directive during the early 1980's, and with concern for improved visibility, it became the new C&NW yellow paint. |
