Altoona Action. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1958. The photographer is not identified. Shown here inside the Juniata Erecting & Machine Shop is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #2018, a BF-16 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in March of 1952, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in January of 1967 after just 15 years of revenue service. Looks to me like it's had a close encounter of the third kind! |
