PRR 5820, BH-50, 1952         
Dziobko. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by John Dziobko, Jr., that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 25 July 1952. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5820 and another "Centipede" whose road number is not recorded. Both are BH-50's built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as BP-60's rated at 3,000 horsepower each, but later regeared and classified as BH-50's rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #5820 was constructed in February of 1948 and retired in April of 1962 after just 14 years of revenue service. Photo taken from Juniata's 8th Street Bridge.
