Ex-CR unit makes up one half of the rescue powe waiting at Opelika for Columbus based Lafayette Turn in the last days of NS ownership of the line.
NW and ex CR units lay over in the transfer yard at Opelika. A washout during flooding on the nearby Greenville Branch stranded equipment north of Columbus on that line, so NS had to leave units for CSX to ferry up to LaGrange on its AWP-WofA Sub, then over the Lineville to Durand. This went on for several weeks until the bridge could be repaired on the Greenville Branch.
