The traffic on S. Royal Bougham Way was heavy because an event had just let out. The aluminum tube gate was too far back from the current tracks. The SUV stopped in a reasonable place but one gate hit it on the roof. The driver backed up and snapped off the gate. The engineer laid on the horn. As a good railfan I moved the gate to the side of the road. The wiring for the lights continued to work. I came by a few hours later and the gate was fixed. The "break away" joint allowed easy reinstallation. |
