Numer 9604 was built as B&OCT 594 in April 1952 (c/n 15890) on EMD Order 6366, was renumbered to 9604 in early 1957, transferred to the B&O during January 1974, leased back to the B&OCT until December 31, 1982, but was retired September 10, 1982, traded to EMD on an order for SD50's on December 1, 1983. Trailing SW9 9603 was built as B&OCT 593 in March 1952 (c/n 15989) on EMD Order 6366, renumbered to 9603 during early 1957, transferred to the B&O in January 1974, sold to National Railway Equipment December 26, 1985, rebuilt into an SW1000 with an EMD 8-645E prime mover, outshopped by NRE during September 1994 as Amtrak 709, renumbered to AMTK 799. |
