B&O GP9 6581
B&O GP9 6581 southbound on the IHB at McCook, Illinois on an unknown day in August 1979, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. For those of you not familiar with this neighborhood, about a mile behind 6581 (or, a mile ahead of 6653) is the birth place of most EMD locomotives until about 1980 or so, EMD's plant at La Grange. A heck of a lot of dead locomotives past by this location, either as new units being delivered, or trade-ins destined for Pielet Brothers Scrap Yard, located roughly across these tracks from EMD. I imagine that most locomotives breath a sigh of relief after they passed by Pielet Brothers. I marked the GP9 as B&O even though the letters C+O appear on the frame.
