Greg Slaton	General	If Amtrak had a confirmed group coming in to New Orleans for the day to see the Fair, from say, Gulfport or Biloxi, they would add extra cars and deadhead them to Mobile the night before. I rode the train one night and we had six empty coaches in the consist that we were deadheading for a group the next day.	1/2/2010 4:49:42 PM

Amtrak No. 24
It's 6:42 on a Thursday evening and the eastbound GULF COAST LIMITED is being passed up by the rush-hour traffic on Interstate 10. Today's train is much longer than the typical 3- or 4-car consist, because of a secial group that came in today or which has made reservations for tomorrow. Train No. 24 is on the NOUPT Eastern Connection, descending from the Metairie Road overpass, and is just bdginning its trip to Mobile. Notice the blue 1984 Louisiana World Exposition signs on the right. The train was introduced shortly before the Fair opened and was discontinued shortly after the Fair closed.
