| Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 4-4-0 Class A-6 550 at Paterson, New Jersey sometime in April 1893, photo by Rogers Locomotive & Machine Works, Chuck Zeiler collection. The Burlington Route System had a few hundred 4-4-0 locomotive types, but only one built by Rogers. This one was completed in April 1893, delivered as a class M, and was displayed at the Columbian Exposition in Chicago that same year. By 1898 it was renumbered to 1550, re-classed as an A-6, and regularly assigned to mail trains. In 1904, the Burlington consolidated its locomotive numbering system, this one became 472. In 1916 this locomotive was again renumbered, this time becoming 193. It was retired in December 1922. |
