Burlington Northern Railroad SD9 6162 at Clyde, Illinois on an unknown day in September 1979, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in September 1955 as CB&Q SD9 360 (c/n 20570) on EMD Order 5399, it became BN 6162, and later, BNSF 6162. It may still have a steam generator in the short hood, indicated by the steel cap on the top of the hood. By this date, the steam generator is likely out of service and serving as ballast for the front truck.
