Cat-powered SD40-2
BN 6330 was a garden-variety SD40-2 until 1987 when BN installed a Caterpillar 3612 engine in it as a test. The resulting 3800 HP unit, actually called an SD40C by the road, was tested across the system for several years.

Is this a modified SD40-2 or a SD45? It has flared radiators all the way to back of the engine, but also has long platforms? Does anyone know what this is? Nice engine though!

TRP Issue #18 (page 63) says it's an SD40C because it has a Caterpillar engine.
