Some history in this photo - for the first time while on the Providence and Worcester, the ethanol extra was called by its CSX symbol - K638. Now officially on Amtrak's Northeast Corridor south of Boston Switch, its now called MFS-9 - MFS for Multi Function Switcher. MFS-9 with 3 hoppers of cement serving as spacers, 80 cars of ethanol, along with a box car spacer running on track 7 along the Corridor at Branch Avenue. This was the old New Haven Northup Avenue Yard. A long gone P&W customer on the right when it was a Sears Warehouse and the other track now unused to West River and the then new automated Post Office under New Haven, later Penn Central |
