NE-2 powered by a SD45 and two GP35's charges up the grade at Newburgh, NY. The tracks in the foreground were the EL's Newburgh yard. The EL assigned an agent here right up till Conrail.

Reading had SD45s? I figured that those would be almost new in 1976, but that thing looks like a wreck.

Sure did! Got 'em in 1967. And as you can see from this picture, they were bi-directional.

They also had the cab windshield area extended 9 inches to accommodate the dual control stands. Reading had 5, and I remember 'em thundering upgrade through Tamaqua back in the day.
