| Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad E8 9942A on Train #21, the westbound Morndng Zephyr (Twin Cities Zephyr) at Aurora, Illinois on March 21, 1965, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This particular E8 has its original painted side panels. Records indicate that it was never retrofitted with stainless steel panels, though many of this ord r (2012) of E8's were. It was not until the third order of E-8's (2048) that the locomotives came from the builder with stainless steel plates as original equipment. |
