William H. Davis Jr. General Thanks Guys, I enjoy filming'the SP 5387 on the point when they run it on the point. The A&TRR also has some HLCX & OmniTrax 4 axle power that they use mostly between Gadsden & Guntersville, Al. 2 are former CN GP40-2L'S still in CN paint 6/24/2008 11:59:19 PM
Kyle Yunker General How much xraffic is on this line? I want to railfan it one day but I don't want to drive out there and not see a thing. 6/25/2008 12:09:27 AM
William H. Davis Jr. General 1 freight in each direction a day with occasional grain extras. They also run a Guntersville Turn north out of Gadsden, which they use 4 axle power on alot consisting of a pair of CN GP40-2L'S & a pair of OmniTrax units 1 a GP20 & the other a GP38-2. The northbound usually runs out of Birmingham in the early morning headed to Gadsden. I'm not sure if they run 7 days a week, so if I were you I would try to plan a trip on Friday or some other time during the week other than Saturday!or Sunday. If you listen to the scanner you monitor AAR 24. Just do like I do & sit at 32nd street interlocking in Birmingham & while you're waiting on the A&TRR to run you can film NT & CSXT as well as BNSF transfers & the Alabama Southern Railroad that runs via CSXT that run with the WAMX SD40'S. When the A&TRR does run then you can go out on their line to film tnem 6/26/2008 11:15:08 AM
