A string of eagle emblazened 2-bay hoppers wait for the next loading of lime, parked outside the old grain elevator, Weeping Water, Nebraska. The depot that used to stand in this spot had been moved the previous fall to its new owner in Crete. Weeping Water is still home to an emmense lime quarry used in the concrete industry, insuring its rail connections from the east by Union. Aside from once being an important link of the Lincoln branchline, Weeping Water also had direct connections to Omaha, up north. 3/16/97 |
