BN's Anacortes Local crosses the Swinomish Channel west of Whitney WA on a beautiful September day. The train is headed west towards the refineries on March's Point that represent the majority of traffic on the line. The bridge is normally kept open for marine traffic and is closed only for the twice daily passage of the train, which normaly ran six days a week. The current span was placed in 1953, replacing a 60 year old predecessor. This view is to the north and was taken from the adjacent WA20 structure. |
