Racks before passenger cars, just the opposite of the Amtrak version. Amtrak's makes more sense relative to slack action.

I've ridden with these guys alot, both in the cab and in back. They knew the road and would make little 2-3 pound brake applications in just the right places and mostly avoided any slack action. The worst you got was slammed up against walls on high speed crossovers and that would happen no matter where in the train you were placed.

They had a reason for running this way and darned if I can remember why. I think it had something to do with derailments but I don't recall the reasoning behind that.
