MILW/SOO Pembine, WI Union Depot
Title:  MILW/SOO Pembine, WI Union Depot
Description:  The northeast side of the Pembine union depot at the junction of E&LS, former MILW, and CN, former SOO, rails at Pembine, WI, on 30 Sep. '14. The depot was built ca. 1887, when the SOO laid their tracks across the M&N main line. Some references state it was built in 1896, after the original depot was destroyed when a MILW train collided with a SOO train which was fouling the junction on 29 Jan. 1896. Other references state the damage to the original depot was repaired. One reference claims the depot was built in 1914. The ca. 1887 union depot was wantonly destroyed by arson perpetrated by juvenile miscreants on 17 Jun. 2019.

The local has just dropped off 17 cars for the E&LS and, after a brief pause and a horn blast short of the junction, will head for Goodman, WI with 9 cars. SOO Milladore, WI Depot
Title:  SOO Milladore, WI Depot
Description:  The former SOO depot sits near the CN tracks at Milladore, WI, on 22 Aug. '15. Milladore was originally known as Mill Creek, the name was changed when the post office was established because a post office with that name already existed in Richland Co. The depot closed in '61. It was moved elsewhere in town in '63 and used as an appliance shop, R. Ulman Electric, owned by Rudy Ulman. At some point it was moved again to its current location where it is used for a shed on a farm. I believe the depot stood between the tracks and Main St./Hwy. P (formerly Hwy. 10), between Haynes St. and Wheeler St. If I hadn’t been on a time schedule, I would have been tempted to seek permission from the property owner to get better photographs.

SOO Gresham, WI, Depot
Title:  SOO Gresham, WI, Depot
Description:  The east and north walls of the SOO depot at Gresham, WI, on 13 Jun. '20. The depot was built by the W&N in 1906. The first scheduled train arrived in Gresham from Shawano at 1155 hours on 11 Feb. 1907. The W&N was purchased by the SOO in 1921. The depot was closed in 1963. The depot was moved in 1974, through the efforts of the Gresham Women’s Club, a former depot agent and his wife, and numerous other village members. Now the Gresham Depot Museum, 1311 N. Main St., it currently stands about 200 ft. north of its original location and has been turned about 45 degrees from its original orientation. An awesome photograph of the Gresham depot, taken from the cab of a locomotive, can be seen at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:The_SOO_Line_Gresham,_Wisconsin_Depot_in_September_1963_(28222945190).jpg.
