Colorado & Southern Railway Lariat Crest, at Denver, Colorado on an unknown day in February 1964, photograph by Hol Wagner. Lariat Crest was built by Pullman in service date December 2, 1929, Lot 6300, Plan 3973A ( 10 Section - 1 Drawing Room - 1 Compartment Sleeper ) named GULL LAKE, air conditioning ( Pullman Mechanical Brine ) added May 3, 1935, rebuilt as a Betterment car, August 8, 1940 to Plan 3973D ( same comfiguration ) renamed LARIAT CREST, sold to the C&S December 31, 1948, painted in shadow line an an unknown date, repainted in solid Gray November 11, 1955, withdrawn from service October 31, 1963, scrapped at an unknown date. The following is from http://www.pullmanshops.com/lariatcrest.htm : Lariat Crest was rebuilt to Plan 3973D from Gull Lake August 8, 1940. It was painted into CB&Q Streamline colors and given four tread folding steps at that time. It was repainted to Pullman paint diagram CED4217C Shadowline at an undetermined date. In Late July and early August 1940, six heavyweight Pullman sleepers were rebuilt and semi-streamlined for the joint Colorado and Southern / Fort Worth and Denver Texas Zephyr service. The 10 Section -1 Compartment -1 Drawing Room Lariat Crest and Lariat Range; 8 Section - 5 Double Bedroom Castle Crest and Castle Range; and 12 Section - 1 Drawing Room Spanish Crest and Spanish Range. |
