11015 - SBB Historic
Title:  11015 - SBB Historic
Description:  In the 1920s stronger locomotives were needed for the Swiss rail system (which has grades up to 12‰ outside mountain lines). The existing locomotives with three driven axles were a bit weak for their services. Because the Buchl– drive already proved to be reliable on the Ae 3/6 I, two prototypes of the Ae 4/7 were ordered in 1925. Subsequently, in total 127 were built between 1927 and 1934. These two Ae 4/7 are stored and getting rusty, maybe they never run again.

Gotthard northern ramp
Title:  Gotthard northern ramp
Description:  A Re 6/6 with a Re 4/4 as second engine in the lead and as helper a Re 620 at the back of the heavy freigth train. Up to 1300 tons can be pulled by an Re 6/6 with an Re 4/4 II (this combination is sometimes referred to as Re 10/10); if the trains are heavier they have to be pushed by an additional Re 4/4 or Re 6/6, because the couplers are too weak to pull the entire train on the steep 28%o slopes.
