SP 2-6-6-2 #3930 - Southern Pacific
Description:
Massive 1920 Alco-Schenectady articulated, originally built for Verde Tunnel & Smelter but sold to Southern Pacific in 1943 along with its sister loco #3931 to operate on Beaumont Hill near Los Angeles. Specifics - class MM-3, 57" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 23.5x32" high pressure cylinders (2) and 37x32" low pressure cylinders (2), engine wieght of 447,000 lb, tractive effort of 82,623 lb. SP 3930 was finally retired in 1954. No date, location or photographer was listed on this possibly older reprint so date and location were arbitrarily set..

Baltimore & Ohio RR 2-6-6-2 7512, ex-BR&P #712
Description:
This Brooks Locomotive built in 1918 as a class KK-4b had 57" drivers, created 200 psi with an engine weight of 445,000 lb and an engine + tender wheelbase of 86.48'. One massive unit. While searching, I found the photo was taken by Howard W. Ameling.

BO 2-6-6-2 #7527 - Baltimore & Ohio
Description:
The massive Baltimore & Ohio 2-6-6-2 "Mallet Mogul" type steam locomotive #7527 was built by Alco-Brooks in May of 1918 originally as Buffalo, Rochester & Pittsburgh #727 (serial #58480). After being absorbed into the B&O roster, it was renumbered B&O #7527 as seen in this photo. The loco was especially built for slow drags of long strings of coal cars and performed well doing so. After 32 years of service, the loco was finally retired and scrapped in 1950. Specs = 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 23.5x32 and 37x32" cylinders, engine weight of 437,000 lb, tractive effort of 80,000 lb. No photographer or exact date in 1948 was given for the photo.

BO 2-6-6-2 #7535 - Baltimore & Ohio RR
Description:
The B&O articulated #7535 sits with steam built up and a loaded tender, just waiting for its next orders. Although no information was listed on the photo, this very well may be East Salamanca, NY, where many of the 2-6-6-2's worked. Built by Alco-Brooks in 1918 for the Buffalo, Rochester & Pittsburgh RR, it fell under B&O control in 1930 with the takeover of BR&P. Specifics - class KK-4c, 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 23.5x32" set pf cylinders, 37x32" set of cylinders, engine weight of 445,000 lb, tractive effort of 75,112 lbs. All 55 locos in the class were retired by 1951. No photographer listed and the date has been arbitrarily set and it appears to be a later reprint..

Description:
Originally built by Alco-Brooks in May of 1919 as Buffalo, Rochester & Pittsburgh 2-6-6-2 Mallet Mogul #739 (serial #58492), it was absorbed into the B&O roster in 1932 and renumbered B&O 7539 with a new classification as KK-4c. Beautiful example of a 1923 Alco-Brooks built 2-6-6-2 steam locomotive originally built as BR&P 752 but renumbered later as 7552. Specs - class KK-4, 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 23.5x32" cylinders, engine weight of 445,000 lb, excellent tractive effort of 75,112 lb. No date, location or photographer listed for this photo. The location could very well be either Ricker, PA or East Salamanca, NY, with the low mountain range in the background.
