MILW 10200 |
Description: |
Two monster engines side-by-side. No. 10200 was the first of 42 electric locomotives delivered by General Electric to the Road beginning in 1915, the year it was built, when the Milwaukee electrified operations across five mountain ranges in Montana, Idaho, and Washington. No. 227 was one of 18 yellowstone-type locomotives built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works for the Missabe Road in 1941 |

Description: |
Roster view of this classic boxcab electric which survives as a monument to the glory days of the electrified districts on the Milwaukee Road's Pacific Coast extension. A visit inside, while cramped, is well worth it. |

MILW 10200 B |
Description: |
This is the 10200's "B" unit. I wish the Milwaukee Road had kept the faith about not only the Coast Division but the electric operations as well. At least we have the 10200 to remember it by, and I am glad the LSRM allows visits inside these units, but be careful. MILW boxcabs are cramped inside due to all the electrical gear except in the cab areas. |

MILW Boxcab #10200 - Milwaukee Road |
Description: |
This massive Milwaukee Road boxcab was built by GE in 1915 and was considered the most powerful electric locomotive in the world at that time. The loco is actually made of two half units semi-permanently joined together. Due to the close packing of displays at the museum, it's difficult to photograph the entire massive locomotive. Its major ability was to pull long freight trains over the mountainous divisions in the western United States. |

MILW Boxcab #10200 - Milwaukee Road |
Description: |
In 1939, the loco was renumbered E50 and continued in service until the end of the electrification on June 15, 1974. At that time it was stored until a later comsmetic restoration returned it to its original appearance and number by the Milwaukee Shops. The loco was donated to the Lake Superior RR Museum in 1977. |
