Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad E7 9931A on Train #10, the eastbound Denver Zephyr, at Naperville, Illinois, April 21, 1965, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Built in March 1949 (c/n 6500) on EMD Order E1006A, this locomotive became BN 9931 after March 2, 1970, and was sold for scrap to Hyman-Michaels on April 26, 1972. It was equipped with two Vapor Clarkson CFK 4225 steam generators. Some but not all of CB&Q's E7's were retro-fitted with stainless steel side panels. This locomotive retained its as-delivered Aluminum painted side panels to the end. |
