Southbound KCS Manifest |
Description: |
Two Gray TFM SD70MAC's take a manifest down the Pittsburg Sub. at East Industrial Road. The 1621 had 2 mounts on the manifold blanked over on its K3LA horn, making it a one-chime "K1LA". For the record, the monotone single chime sounded strange as hell coming from a modern 6-Axle EMD. |

KCS train M-CXSH parked on the NOPB with NOPB crew |
Description: |
While two runners prepare to climb the Mississippi River levee seen to the right, KCS train M-CXSH (Manifest -- CSX New Orleans to Shreveport) waits on the New Orleans Public Belt Railway's "East Main" at Eagle Street. The crew on the train is an NOPB crew, and the conductor can be seen on the ground in front on the locomotive. Shortly after this picture was taken, this train's counterpart - the M-SHCX - arrived with a KCS crew, and the crews swapped trains. The building sitting atop the levee in the distance on the right is the New Orleans headquarters of the US Army Corps of Engineers. The area atop the levee here is frequently visited by runners, joggers, walkers, cyclists, and horseback riders. |
