Pulling through the Savanna IL yard is heavyweight Mikado MILW 330. Built by Alco-Brooks in September of 1918 as CM&StP #8623, it was renumbered in 1938 to MILW 330. One of the last to be retired and scrapped in the L3 group, it lasted until March of 1955. . Specs - L3 class, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 27x32" cylinders, engine wt of 320,000 lb and tractive effort of 62,949 lb. This is a C. Cook photo. |
