Here is the frontispiece flyleaf of a 78-page booklet published by Harry P. Albrecht entitled "Those Amazing Class 'D' Locomotives." It was issued originally in June of 1981. Illustration Caption: "Pennsylvania Railroad Locomotive Which Hauled the Train of the Prince of Wales in 1860." Depicted here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #166, a D (4-4-0) "American" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during 1872, rebuilt as a DA (G-1A) in November of 1879, then sent to the Philadelphia, Wilmington, & Baltimore Railroad and renumbered "102" by November of 1882. |
