Nice b&w photo of Lehigh Valley Alco FA2 #583 standing at the passenger platform in Binghampton, NY. Built by Alco in November of 1950, the loco was used primarily in freight service although was pulled into passenger service in rare emergencies. Specs - serial #78277, original class DF5 but reclassified as AF16, Alco #244 prime mover, turbocharged, 16000 hp. The loco was traded into Alco in 1965-66 for a C628 order. No photographer listed for the photo. |
