Description:  Elmira. Here is the first of four successive duplicate 35mm color slides of photos by Mr. A. Withiam that were taken in Sodus Point, New York, on 16 April 1950. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4462, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during May of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in March of 1942, and retired in August of 1952 after 29 years of faithful service. In this context, it's pushing a string of loaded hoppers to the Sodus Point Car Dumper; their contents will be dumped into the Great Lakes steamer "Valley Camp." ("Stoneborobranch"; #4 of 34)

PRR 4462, I-1SA, #4 of 4, 1950
Title:  PRR 4462, I-1SA, #4 of 4, 1950
Description:  Elmira. Here is the fourth of four successive duplicate 35mm color slides of photos by Mr. In this context, it's backing-up into the marshalling yard after pushing a string of loaded hoppers to the Sodus Point Car Dumper. Note the railroader hitchin' a ride on the locomotive's pilot!
