Built by Alco-Schenectady in 1919, this is one of the last and lighter weight 2-6-6-2's ordered by C&O. According to www.steamlocomotive.com, this series of lighter weight 2-6-6-2 Mallets were not well received by C&O because "the C&O's requirements had outstripped the 2-6-6-2 arrangement." Specs - H-5 class, 57" drivers, 225 psi boiler pressure (later dropped back to 210), 23x32" high pressure cylinders, 35x32" low pressure cylinders, engine weight of 448,000 lb, tractive effort of impressive 79,336 lb.
