SFM. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Bill Price that was taken near Worthington, Ohio, on 7 June 1956. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3556, an H-9S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built in Juniata as H-8SB number "6607" during November of 1911, renumbered "3556" in 1913, rebuilt as an H-9S in June of 1918, and retired in October of 1958 after 47 years. It's passing WORTHINGTON Tower with a two-hopper train; the number of the N-5 cabin car is not recorded. |

PRR 3556, H-9S, 1957 |
Description: |
Portraits 2. Here is a steam locomotive portrait by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Columbus, Ohio, on 20 August 1957. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3556, an H-9S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built in Juniata as H-8SB number "6607" during November of 1911, renumbered "3556" in 1913, rebuilt as an H-9S in June of 1918, and retired in October of 1958 after 47 years of faithful service. Looks to me like it's on its way to the scrapper, having lost its bell and front coupler. (#17 of 36) |
