Here is the 17th of 32 color prints of calendar art works that were commissioned by the Pennsylvania Railroad from 1925 through 1958. Shown here is Grif Teller's painting entitled "Partners In National Defense." It was published originally in 1942. Depicted in the foreground is PRR engine #6750, an M-1A (4-8-2) "Mountain" built in Juniata during May of 1930, rebuilt as an M-1B in March of 1949, and retired in September of 1958. Also depicted is PRR engine #1261, an H-9S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built in Juniata as an H-8S during 1909, rebuilt as an H-8SB in April of 1913, rebuilt as an H-9S in July of 1931, and retired in October of 1955. |

Here is a photo which first appeared in an article by Philip W. Klaus, Jr., entitled "The Newtown Square Branch." It was published in the Winter 1986-1987 issue of "The High Line" magazine, page 25. Partial Caption: "No. 1261 pulls out of freight house siding at Grassland.... Photo by Don Kehl; March 24, 1948." #1261 is an H-9S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built in Juniata as an H-8S during 1909, rebuilt as an H-8SB in April of 1913, rebuilt as an H-9S in July of 1931, and retired in October of 1955.
