Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #559 and another locomotive whose number is not recorded. Both are Class L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikados." #559 was built in Juniata during November of 1914 and retired in August of 1959 after 45 years of faithful service. ("LouisFols"; #17 of 21)

Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #559, an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built in Juniata during November of 1914 and retired in August of 1959 after 45 years of faithful service. It was published originally in the Fall 1996 issue of "Vintage Rails" magazine, page 84. Top Photo: Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #1670, #94, #460, and #6755; all are presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. #1670 is a B-6SB (0-6-0) switcher built in Juniata in March of 1916. #94 is an A-5S (0-4-0) switcher built in Juniata in January of 1917. #460 is an E-6S (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata in August of 1914. And #4755 is an M-1B (4-8-2) "Mountain" built in Juniata in June of 1930.
