DSL 2-6-6-0 #209 - Denver & Salt Lake RR
Title:  DSL 2-6-6-0 #209 - Denver & Salt Lake RR
Description:  Built by Alco-Schenectady in 1910, this articulated Mallet was originally built as a 0-6-6-0 configuration for the Denver, Northwestern & Pacific RR but this website doesn't offer that rare configuration for Alco. A leading truck was added in 1912 along with mechanical stokers by the now renamed Denver & Salt Lake RR. Specifics - Class 76 (later L-77), 55" drivers, 225 psi boiler pressure, 21x32" high pressure cylinders, 33.5x32 low pressure cylinders, engine weight of 362,000 lb, tractive effort of 70,456 lb. The class was purchased by the Denver & Rio Grande Western where they served until retirement in the late 1940's-early 1950's. Unknown photographer.
