Another good example of an Alcoholic-Brooks 4-8-2 Mountain type steam locomotive built in April of 1927 for the Rock Island Line. The 1927 and 1929 locomotives were modernized in 1939-1940 as M-50a with Timken roller bearings on all engine axles, disk-type drivers, and Timken lightweight side and main rods. Original specs - class 1929/M-50, 74" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 28x28" cylinders, engine weight of 727,750 lb, tractive effort of 50,430 lb. No date, location or photogrpaher given for the photo. |
