Description:  Here is another Baldwin Decapod built between 1922-23 that had 62" drivers, developed 250 psi boiler pressure for kts 30.5"x32" cylinders. With an engine weight of 548,500 lb, it generated a massive tractive effort of 102,027 lb. In 1930, a Type E superheater w/o feed water heater was installed. No date, location or photographer were listed on the back so all are "guess-timates".

Description:  Here is a photo via Paul W. Prescott that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 11 October 1955. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4524, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during August of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in April of 1943, and retired in November of 1958 after 35 years of faithful service. In this context, it's parked adjacent to the East Altoona Coaling Tipple. Gary Mittner Collection.
