This locomotive was ordered by Pennsylvania but delivered to Penn Central as SD45 6238 in August 1968 then later entered to Conrail fleet wearing the same number until being sold to C&NW as SD45 6565. Morrison Knudsen rebuilt the locomotive for SP as SD40M-2 8657 in full Espee paint with speed lettering but retaining the distinctive flared radiators of the SD45 and older Flexicoil trucks as delivered to PRR/PC. |
