Album Info:Built by GE in 1919, the 5 bipolar units originally numbered 10250-10254 were unique in every sense. Used to power the Mountain Division trains, they performed well until 1953 but a rebuilding done by the Milwaukee shops was poorly done. After that, the units were prone to fires and failure. Finally the 5 were retired between 1958-60. All but E2 (renumbered in 1939) were scrapped in 1962. E2 was donated to the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis, MO.

MILW E4, Milwaukee Road (originally numbered 10253)
Title:  MILW E4, Milwaukee Road (originally numbered 10253)
Description:  Built in 1919 by GE, this unique bipolar unit and its 4 sisters served the Milwaukee Road in the Mountain division faithfully for 35 years hauling long trains both passenger and freight at speeds up to 70 MPH. A poorly done 1953 rebuild by the MILW shops doomed these units, finally being retired in 1958-60 and scrapped in 1962.
